I’m not really one for holiday-themed home decor, but I still like to change things up every once in a while! My favorite way to do this is with a nod to the season. With Valentine’s day right around the corner, I’m rounding up my favorite ways to incorporate elements that I love into my home.

Warm Earth Tones
One of my favorite “trends” of the moment is leaning away from the cool neutrals of the last decade, and really embracing warmer, moodier tones. Incorporating warm, earthy colors like browns, deep greens, and rich burgundies creates a lived-in feel that feels cozy and welcoming, perfect for a romantic date night in.
Natural Materials
Natural materials are a great way to bring the outside in, fostering a connection to nature and promoting a healthier living environment. Whether it’s through real plants and greenery, or reclaimed woods and natural stones, we love to opt for organic materials whenever possible. There’s just something about the patina of a natural brass fixture or marble stone that reminds me to enjoy the little moments and romanticize the everyday. A wine spill becomes a story of that joyful night with friends, and the tumbled edges of tiles evoke images of European cobblestone streets on a dream vacation.

Layered Textures
Layering soft and varying textures is a great way to up the cozy-factor. Chunky knit blankets and patterned textiles like boucle pillows instantly make a room feel inviting, and are easy to update with the seasons. Varying textures and tones in larger-scale items like wallpaper or rugs helps add depth to a room, even without committing to a major pattern.

Personalized Spaces
One of our core values as a company is the importance of creating functional, personalized spaces that reflect each client’s unique style and personality. We love bringing in family photos, whether that’s a structured gallery wall with black and white prints, a fun and funky vintage art collection, or a specialty combination of the two. One of my favorite unique touches was creating a “sexy wall” for our clients, with dramatic black and white photos documenting their relationship from engagement, to marriage, to her three (now four) pregnancies! Incorporating touches that reflect you and your family is the ultimate way to create a unique space that will continue to grow with you.
Combining warm and moody hues, textured design elements, and natural materials not only align with current trends, but truly resonate with our values as a design firm. Personalizing each space to our clients’ unique needs is our favorite way to create a space that each person will truly love.
